Brazen Texas Fugitive Captured in Iowa, Ending Two-Year Escape after Family Tragedy
When many people are running to Texas to hide out from a crime, a Texas man ran from Texas to hide out. However, the thing about running is you will be running the rest of your life or until you get caught.
In this situation, this Texas man ran until he got caught. Unfortunately, while it worked for a while, his hiding place was eventually found.
The Crime
Kyle Coolack is wanted in the murder of his brother Brad Coolack who he allegedly shot on Friday, March 11, 2022, in the Houston neighborhood of 7200 W. Greens Road. A warrant was issued for his arrest on August 2nd, 2022.
Coolack, a white male, 5'11", 160 lbs with blue eyes and blonde hair, was 37 years old at the time of the murder. After the murder, he fled the scene and fled the state.
How was Coolack apprehended?
Coolack was caught in Iowa. The one little secret he was supposed to be keeping while on the run, he let it slip.
According to a press release by the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office in Iowa. The Sheriff's office received a call from a Pomery, Iowa resident who said they had just kicked a man out of the house where he had been staying. The person said that the man had been telling household members that he was on the run for killing his brother.
Coolack admitted to people who were letting him stay with him, that he murdered his brother and was on the run from the police.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's found Coolack walking along a highway on October 20th at 7:14 am. When stopped Coolack gave the Sheriff's a false name. He was taken into custody and finally admitted that he was indeed Kyle Andrew Coolack. The Sheriff's confirmed Coolack had a warrant for his arrest for murder in Houston. The Calhoun County Sheriff's office placed Coolack under arrest for extradition to Houston, Texas.
Why did he allegedly kill his brother?
According to Law and Crime, Kyle Coolack had slept with his brother Brad's wife while he was serving overseas.
As of the time of writing, there have been no updates to Coolack's court records. Once he is extradited back to Houston and appears before a judge, the court proceedings will begin, and he will face trial for his crimes or take a plea deal.
