Six Flags Begins Testing Record-Breaking New Coaster
(Arlington, Texas) It's the moment roller coaster enthusiasts have been waiting for: testing of the new giga dive roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas.
Tormenta Rampaging Run is scheduled to open early this summer during the 65th anniversary of Six Flags Over Texas. This new roller coaster will set six new records and has already changed the skyline of Arlington.

Tormenta Begins Test Runs
With the construction of Tormenta Rampaging Run now complete, it was only a matter of time before trains would be dispatched from the station to complete the circuit during the testing phase.
The first test for the giga dive coaster came on Wednesday, May 27. Within minutes, video of this new style roller coaster was flooding my social media feed. Video from Six Flags Over Texas, as well as other social media groups I follow, had posted video of one train completing a full circuit of the nearly mile-long track.
It was a moment that many of us had been waiting for over a year. Since the first test, Six Flags Over Texas has been conducting random tests of all three trains and will soon be open to park guests to enjoy.
Six Records Tormenta Will Break
As a roller coaster enthusiast, I am looking forward to riding this massive new record-breaking ride.
- Tallest Dive Coaster: Soaring to an epic height of 309 feet, Tormenta Rampaging Run will give riders a heart-stopping view of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area before plunging them into a high-speed descent.
- Fastest Dive Coaster: Reaching a thrilling speed of 87 mph, Tormenta Rampaging Run will be the fastest dive coaster on the planet, ensuring an experience that delivers pure excitement from the first moment to the last.
- Longest Dive Coaster: Spanning 4,199 feet, this ride will offer an extended journey full of airtime (brief periods of weightlessness) moments, sharp turns, and exhilarating drops that will make riders feel like they are bull runners.
- Tallest Vertical Coaster Loop: At 179 feet, the loop on this coaster will be the highest of any coaster, of any type, in the world.
- Highest Immelmann Inversion: Being upside down at 218 feet will become a must for thrill-seekers and roller coaster enthusiasts from around the world.
- Highest 95-Degree Beyond Vertical Drop: Without warning, the train will release, dropping riders a record 285 feet down at a beyond-vertical 95 degrees.
There are a few more records that will be set along the way, but these are the main six. As of this posting, an official opening date has not been announced by Six Flags Over Texas.
When the opening date is revealed, I'll be sure to let you know. One of the perks of the job is getting an early look at attractions like this. I am looking forward to media day and the opportunity to ride this truly one-of-a-kind roller coaster and share my experience with you.
