This Texas City Is One Of The Top 50 Places To Live In The U.S.
One of the most anticipated lists that come out each year is the Best Places To Live list. So many of us love to see who's on top, and just how many cities in Texas land on it. Sometimes it spurs us to pack up and head to one of the places on the list, especially if they're here in Texas.
A lot of times, the cities on this list are small cities with a whole lot of charm and culture. I mean, who doesn't want to live in a place like that? We see these types of cities on TV all the time. Usually it's in a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie. People fawn over these cute cities.
Well, there are plenty of cities like that on this list, but here was the shocker. One ONE city from Texas managed to find its way into the top 50. I would've thought for sure there'd be more than that, but I was dead wrong.
So what was the top city in the United States to live in? That honor went to Metuchen, New Jersey. Things working in its favor? What they call an "award-winning main street", good schools, and easy access to New York City.
Ok, fair enough. Those are all good things to have in a city. Small town living and feel, while being close to a major city. I'd say when you put those things together, it's an award-winning combination.
So who was the lone recipient of the honor in Texas? That belongs to a city residing just south of Austin. That city is New Braunfels. We have friends that lived in New Braunfels for quite some time, and I can tell you it's very deserving of the honor.
Yes, it's got all the retail you need to make you happy, and plenty of restaurants. You know what else they're home to? Well, they have a Buc-ee's, so that alone wins for anyone from Texas. It's also the home of one of the biggest festivals in Texas, Wurstfest. A place where people get together and pound down some beers and brats. Big win.
There's a lot more to New Braunfels than just those things. For example, they're also the home of a Schlitterbahn, and that place is an absolute kick in the pants.
