Lewisville Lake has had a few different names over the years. It was also known as the Garza-Little Elm reservoir and Lake Dallas.

The North Texas lake is on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in Denton County near Lewisville. The 29,000 acre reservoir has a maximum depth of 67 feet.

The lake known for it great fishing, family friendly picnic areas, pavilions, and swimming areas has recently claimed the lives of three people in one week and four total this month.

14-Year-Old Boy Drowns Saturday In Lake Lewisville

On Saturday September 21, 2024 the body of a 14-year-old boy was found after officers responded to a drowning call. According to nbcdfw.com witnesses say that they saw the boy go under the water and not resurface.

On Friday September 20th a 24-year-old was seen swimming back and forth in waters near the volleyball courts. His body was recovered later that evening.

On Sunday September 15th the Lewisville police department responded to a drowning call, but did not locate a body. Game wardens located the body of 49-year-old Jin Goo Kang Tuesday.

Body Of A Boater Recovered Earlier This Month

Texas Game Wardens used side scan sonar to find a body of a 23-year-old man that jumped off of his boat for a swim and never resurfaced on Sunday September 1st. He had rented the boat with some friends.

The area he jumped into was around 45 feed deep. Our hearts go to to all four of the families of this month's victims.
