Discover The Legend Cowboy Tuff Chex: Texas’ Longhorn World Record Holder
Texas takes a lot of pride in the belief that everything is bigger in Texas. Texans also hold a special place in their heart for Longhorns. What happens when you combine the two? You wind up with a very impressive world record that calls the Lone Star State home.
Texas Is Home To A World Record-Holding Longhorn
The actual world record held by the Lone Star Longhorn is "longest horn spread on a bull living." The Longhorn, Cowboy Tuff Chex, easily claimed the title with a spread of 8 feet. To put it in perspective, the average spread is around 4 feet.
Everything is bigger in Texas, indeed.
Cowboy Tuff Chex, The Record Breaking Texas Longhorn
Cowboy Tuff Chex began his life in Oklahoma before being sold at an auction to ranchers from Fayetteville, Texas. Supposedly, the ranchers had to load Cowboy Tuff Check into the widest legal trailer they could find just to make sure he got home safe and sound.
As you can imagine, the record-breaking Longhorn garnered a lot of attention. Longhorn enthusiasts and ranchers all wanted a piece of Cowboy Tuff Chex. Let's just say that his progeny are pretty popular too, if you know what I mean.
Tourists also make the trip to try and see Cowboy Tuff Chex at his home on Bentwood Ranch. It's easy to see why. The spread on that Longhorn is insane; especially when you compare Cowboy Tuff Chex's horns to the other bulls around him.
According to legend, Cowboy Tuff Chex spends his days relaxing in ponds and enjoying time moseying through the pastures.
