Is It Illegal to Use a Parking Lot to Avoid a Red Light in Texas?
I’ve seen this happen more over the past few weeks, it seems like everyone is getting more and more in a rush to get to their destination. I’m talking about those people that see a line of cars waiting at a red light or a stop sign and decide to drive through a parking lot to avoid the line of cars. It’s all about getting to their destination as quick as possible, but is it legal in the state of Texas to cut through a parking lot like that?
This has us thinking back to our days of just learning how to drive. Although whether it’s legal or not, it’s just rude to think that your time is more valuable than others and you don’t have to wait in the line. Just be a good person and wait your turn like everyone else. No one wants to wait in traffic, but often times we have to wait to get onto the Loop, wait your turn.
Okay, But Is It Illegal to Use the Parking Lot to Avoid Waiting for the Light or Stop Sign?
The short answer is, yes, it is illegal and law enforcement officers will give you a ticket if they see you cutting through a parking lot to avoid a light or stop sign.
What Is the Punishment if You’re Caught by Law Enforcement?
It’s not cheap, you can expect to pay up to $200 for trying to save a minute or two off your commute time. It’s just not worth the risk, and again, just be a good person and wait your turn.
