Geek’d Con Brings TV Stars, Cosplay And More To Tyler
Tyler is getting its very own Comic Con with the arrival of Geek'd Con at the Harvey Convention Center June 4 and 5.
Typically one has to drive to Dallas or Houston or even Shreveport to take part in convention antics, but with Geek'd Con, it's as easy as driving to the north side of town for two days of cosplay contests, tabletop RPG gaming, as well as the opportunity to meet stars of some your favorite TV shows. You'll get the chance to meet the likes of Battlestar Galactica's Sam Witwer, American Horror Story's Jennifer Lynn Warren, The Walking Dead's Theshay West, and the original Supergirl herself, Helen Slater. Each of the event's special guests will have a Q&A session.
A cosplay contest will be held with professional judges awarding trophies for participants in categories including novice, intermediate, advanced, crowd choice and best in show, as well as a kid's division for children age 12 and under.
Attendees will also have a wealth of vendors at their disposal including RC Comics, Geek World, Superhero Jewelry, Crooked Tree Graphics, Bowie Art and Last Ember.
Geek World's gaming experts will be leading several tabletop gaming sessions on both days, including Dungeons & Dragons, Warmachine, Deadlands, Star Realms and Infinity War. Spaces for these gaming sessions are limited so reservations are recommended.
Geek'd Con runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 4 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 3. Admission is $15 for a single day admission, or $20 for a weekend pass for attendees age 13 and up. Admission is $5 for kids age 12 to 6, and free admission for kids age 5 and under.
Geek'd Con will be held at Harvey Convention Center, 2000 W. Front Street, Tyler, TX, 75702. For more information or to purchase advance tickets, visit www.geekdcon.com.
