‘Fresh Prince’ Dad James Avery Dies
Beloved TV dad James Avery has passed away as a result of complications from an open heart surgery.
Avery, most commonly known as Uncle Phil on the popular 90s sitcom 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,' died on New Year's Eve in an L.A. hospital.
His wife Barbara was said to be by his side but had just gotten up for a brief moment and returned to find out the news.
The 65-year-old star both played a father to Alfonso Ribeiro on TV, but also served as a father figure for him throughout life. Ribeiro tweeted his condolences earlier today.
