Emergency Items Tax Free this Weekend

This is the first year of the Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday in Texas.

Items such as batteries, flashlights, gas cans, axes, non-electric can openers and fire extinguishers will be tax free this weekend between 12:01 A.M. Saturday and ending at 12:01 A.M. Monday.

Roy Greenlee II, Owner of Greenlee’s Hardware told KLTV, "You never know when Mother Nature is going to strike and what that will bring to you."

Red Cross Executive Director Tammy Prater said, "We’re already off to a lot of severe weather and we’re in severe weather season, and we’re coming up on hurricane season."
