Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, helps kids across East Texas who need someone to watch out for their best interests in the child protection system, and CASA has a big need for volunteers right now.  These abused and neglected kids could use a hero like you!

A screened and trained CASA volunteer helps kids in foster care who enter the system because his or her home is no longer safe, and appointed by a judge to advocate for a child’s best interests until he or she can get into a permanent home.

The kids in the foster care program usually come from an unstable situation, and CASA volunteers help bring stability and connection that the kids have been looking for.  Sometimes the kids have been through severe abuse and neglect, and the kids are really in need of some positive interaction with a good adult role model.  The relationship with the CASA volunteer could become a special bond that lasts for a lifetime with a huge impact on the child's development. Volunteers get the emotional reward of knowing they helped bring opportunity where there wasn't much before.

CASA for Kids of East Texas is looking for volunteers now.  They have teachers, business people, retirees, stay-at-home moms, and grandparents involved now, and they all work on one case at a time to make sure the kids don't slip through the cracks.  Click HERE to get involved, or call 903-597-7725.

When that child grows up to become well-adjusted and happy, you'll be really glad you did.
