After triumphantly returning following the death of keyboard God and founding member Jon Lord in 2012 with the successful release, "Now What?!," guitarist Steve Morse has confirmed that Deep Purple will, in fact, be hitting the studio in January to record their 20th album.

Bassist Roger Glover had previously indicated the band had been writing in Spain and that, should a new album come together, they would like to once again work with producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd/Kiss/Alice Cooper/Peter Gabriel/Lou Reed) on the project.

Well, Ezrin has officially signed on for the project and Morse tells Guitar Cast, "We’ve been working on the material, and we have one more session before we actually start recording (which should happen) in the middle of January."

Deep Purple were, this year, nominated for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. This marks the third nomination for the band and, hopefully, the third time is, in fact, a charm.

Regardless, album No. 20 is certainly an accomplishment. Given the band's long history of always delivering the goods, despite a revolving door of stellar line-ups, Deep Purple fans are likely to rejoice at this news.
