The Dallas Mavericks took game 1 of the NBA Western Conference Finals last night by beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 121 - 112.  Dirk Nowitzki put on a clinic, scoring 48 points and recording his 6th career 40+ point game!  The analyst at ESPN even compared him to the great Larry Bird in last nights game.  See the post-game interview with Dirk after the jump.

The Mavericks bench came up big again in this game by scoring 50 points.  Mavericks guard J.J. Barea scored 12 points in a row at one point in the game!  LA Lakers center Andrew Bynum actually gave Barea a great compliment on his Twitter account according to cbsports.com:

Following the game, Bynum took to Twitter to shout out some congratulations to his hit victim: "JJ Barea has a great story, worked his butt off and now killing on the big stage! Congrats you deserve it!"

Bynum, you may remember, was a part of one of the dirtiest plays in recent NBA history when he elbowed J.J. Barea in the ribs during game 4 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals:

Bynum was fined and suspended and later apologized to Barea.  For him to give Barea a shout out on his Twitter account is a cool thing to do...especially since he wasn't forced to do it.

Here's the post-game interview with Dirk after last nights game 1 win:

96X listeners Will Harvey of Tyler and Gabriel McBride of Chandler were both in attendance at the American Airlines Center for last nights game 1 win.  Today, Paula Maris of Whitehouse and Leslie Harroff of Big Sandy won tickets to game 2 tomorrow night!
