The Juneteenth Holiday Is Almost Here And Communities All Across East Texas Will Be Celebrating Freedom!

Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, marking an end of slavery in the United States, and in Longview the celebration includes a variety of activities planned throughout the community.

Several of the activities are organized by the City of Longview's Office of Arts and Culture in collaboration with various city departments and community partners. In addition, information is provided below about some Longview Juneteenth events hosted by other community organizations.

Here's What's Going Down In Longview For Juneteenth 2024.

On Saturday June 15th, there's going to be family fun all day long:

Special-Shaped Hot Air Balloon Presentation

  • Hosted by Great Texas Balloon Race
  • Time: 7 - 8 a.m.
  • Foster Middle School, 1504 S. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.

Juneteenth Parade

  • Hosted by City of Longview
  • Location: Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd from Ryder Street to Broughton Recreation Center
  • Time: 10 a.m.

Registration: $10 by June 11 deadline. Register online, by phone 903-237-1270, or in person at Longview Parks and Recreation, 130 E. Timpson St.

Festival in the Park

  • Hosted by: City of Longview
  • Location: Broughton Park, 801 S. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.
  • Time: 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Live Music featuring Calvin Tatum and the Hall Brothers. Plus, food vendors, inflatables, and car show.

Business Expo

  • Hosted by: City of Longview and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Epsilon Zeta Omega Chapter
  • Location: Broughton Recreation Center, 801 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
  • Time: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

  • Registration: Free. Must sign up by June 7 at Longview Parks and Recreation, 130 E. Timpson St.
  • Age 18+ only.

Kickball Tournament

  • Hosted by: Longview Parks and Recreation
  • Location: Broughton Recreation Center, 801 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
  • Time: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

  • Age 16+ only. 10 players per team, minimum 4 women per team.
