CD’s Are Becoming Extinct, But Vinyl Records Are Making A Comeback
People sure love their vinyl. and so do I...and for good reason.
According to Rolling Stone, the Recording Industry of America (RIAA) released its mid-year report Thursday (September 20th) and it revealed some interesting details about how physical platforms for music are declining.
Vinyl has had a significant resurgence in the last decade, and reached its highest sales figures last year since the early Nineties; however, CD's are doing far worse.
According to the report, comparing the first half of 2018 with the first half of 2017, vinyl revenue increased 12.6 percent while CD revenue dropped 41.5 percent.
These days, labels release fewer CD's, and because of this, major retailers like Target and Best Buy decided to limit quantities or even stop stocking discs altogether. At the same time, vinyl has musicians and experts betting on its sustained future due to its unique audio quality and nostalgic value.
To all the vinyl lovers like myself, I salute you on keeping the memories alive and taking a trip down memory lane with the classic sounds of back in the day.
Maybe next time I'll show my purple vinyl of Prince's Purple Rain.
