Honor a Local Fallen Hero, “Bustos” Hero Workout in Tyler, Texas
It’s difficult to comprehend what happened to Deputy Lorenzo Bustos on July 29th, 2022. The brave law enforcement officer was working his last shift with a field training officer before he would be out on his own as a Smith County Deputy and his life was taken from him. He was conducting a traffic stop on Hwy 155 and was hit by a drunk driver. It is a tragic event especially for the young officer's family and people in East Texas want to show the Bustos family support during this difficult time.
It’s difficult to know what to do in times like this but the good people at CrossFit Tyler are hosting an event to show some love and hopefully raise some funds for the family of this fallen hero. The event is called the “Bustos” Hero Workout and it’s open for anyone who wants to give it a shot. It will take place on Saturday, August 27th beginning at 9:00am.

Details on the “Bustos” Hero Workout
The event will take place at CrossFit Tyler (3515 Starr Rd in Tyler) and will consist of the following exercises. 22-minute AMRAP, 29 ground to overhead swing 35/45lb plates, 29 burpees, and 300-meter run. This will be done in teams of 4, 2 athletes working at a time. The movements are synchro movements, athletes can switch out whenever they want. This is just about coming together to show support while getting a workout in.
Why the Unusual Workout to Honor the Bustos Family?
22 is the year Deputy Bustos passes away, 29 was how old he was when he passed away. 4 is the number of loved ones he left behind (wife and 3 children). 2 athletes working at the same time, so we always have each other's back. Donations can also be made to the Bustos family at Southside Bank. Click here for more details about the event.
