Just a couple of hours into the 2014 Big Bass Bash on Lake Palestine, Bobby Curnutt didn't know it, but he secured himself a check for $10,000.

Curnutt, of Kilgore, is the 2014 Big Bass Bash champion after bringing in an 8.46-pound bass during the 8 a.m. hour on Saturday.

The rain held off long enough Sunday for Curnutt to hoist his $10,000 check, which made him the second winner of the big money in the second year of the Big Bass Bash.

Curnutt actually took home $11,000 after winning $500 twice for having the biggest bass of two hourly weigh-ins.

Rounding out the top five were J.P. Duran (7.91 pounds), Monty Damron (7.77 pounds), Terri Graham (7.58 pounds) and Albert Lacy (7.55 pounds).
