Beyonce And Kelly Rowland Teaming Up With Harris County Texas To Build Homes
The Houston Natives And Cousins Are Giving Back To Their Hometown In A Major Way.
Remember the hit Destiny Child's single "No, No, No"? Back when that song was released, the group used money from that hit to build a youth center in the city. Since then, Beyonce has literally given millions to different causes in Houston and her latest endeavor is receiving help from her cousin and Harris County.
Harris County Officials Announced Plans To Build 31 Housing Units For The Homeless.
The initiative was announced Tuesday by county leaders, who will use $7.2 million in American Rescue Plan funds to develop housing at the Bread of Life gymnasium at 2019 Crawford Street in Midtown Houston.
This is only the beginning according to The Chron which reports that Judge Lina Hidalgo said an "even bigger launch" on the housing units would be announced in September when Beyonce is in Houston for her Renaissance World Tour.
The project plans to break ground in October.
In addition to the 31 housing units, the Knowles-Rowland House permanent housing project will have case managers, peer specialists, service specialists, and support services, like transportation, mental health, physical and behavioral health support.
The project is slated to cost around $8.4 million with the additional funds coming from outside groups, including Rice University. Big shoutout to Bey and Kelly for pitching up and helping out once again in their hometown!
