One thing is for sure, Summer is officially here!

The above normal temperatures we've been experiencing the past few weeks has had everyone heading for either the air conditioning, or the pool!

This got me to thinking about the top 5 places in East Texas to go swimming!

1. Splash Kingdom Family Waterpark

Just 30 minutes west of Tyler on I-20 in Canton is Splash Kingdom Family Waterpark! It's a sure cool down on a hot summer day. Besides a water slides and a lazy river they both have indoor arcades and concessions as well as places to have a picnic.

One day adult admission is just $20.95 and kids under 42" are just $16.95!  Kids 2 and under get in free!

2. The Waterpark At The Villages

Just down the road a bit in Flint, is The Waterpark at the Villages.  It's a 19,000 square foot indoor water park in a family environment! The water park is completely glass enclosed and is climate-controlled.  There are several slides, lazy river, a wave pool and more.  They also have party rooms available for birthday parties!

Admission is $19.95 for adults and $16.95 for those under 48".  Children under 2 are free!

3. Tyler state park

I personally don't like swimming in lake water, but if you do, Tyler State Park is the place to do it!  There is a large beach area and they also have rentals available.  Enjoy a dip in the lake and then rent a paddle boat or canoe to explore the lake a little farther out.

Admission is just $5 per person!

4. Apple Swim & Fitness

Apple Swim & Fitness is another favorite place for family's to enjoy.     There are two kiddie pools, one for babies and one for toddlers.  The baby pool has a spray nozzle and is only about 4 or 5 inches deep.  The toddler pool has a mushroom fountain and is about 1 1/2 feet deep.  The regular size pool has 1 slide that goes in to 6 feet of water and a longer slide that drains in to 12 feet of water.  It has a 1 meter spring diving board also!  There is a sand volleyball court and a snack shack too!

Admission is $7 for non-members or $5 as a guest of a member

5. Faulkner Park Sprayground

The Faulkner Park Sprayground is not a pool, but it is a great place to cool off with the kids!  There is a picnic area that can be reserved for birthday parties and other occasions.  The best part about the sprayground is that it is free!  It's open from 9a-9p daily.

The City of Tyler also has two other spraygrounds.  One is located at Fun Forest and one at Woldert Park.  Those two locations also have a full size swimming pool in addition to the sprayground!
