East Texas Man Arrested for Alleged Attempted Bank Robbery
Seeing a bank robbery in a movie or television show can be exciting, when you hear about it in real life it’s a very scary situation. And according to the Palestine Police Department they dealt with an alleged bank robbery situation just last Friday, August 9th at a First Convenience Bank located inside of a Wal-Mart store located at 2223 S. Loop 256 in Palestine, Texas.
The incident was reported around 3:41 p.m. after the suspect Joseph White a 20-year-old male from Palestine entered the bank and demanded a large amount of cash from one of the employees working at the time. It’s reported that he did threaten to use force if his demands were not met.
One Employee Was Able to Text for Help
An employee working at the time was able to text a relative stating that the robbery was taking place and they called 911 immediately. The suspect was still at the bank when officers arrived. There were no weapons found on the suspect after being taken into custody. He was transported and booked into the Anderson County Jail.
Suspect Facing Very Serious Charges
Joseph White was charged with robbery, which in Texas is a second-degree felony. That comes with a maximum fine of up to $10,000 and prison time of between 2 years and 20 years depending on what the judge decides when this case goes to court. The suspect in this case in innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
