Former NFL defensive star turned actor Bubba Smith has died in Los Angeles at the age of 66. According to The Associated Press, Smith was found dead at his Los Angeles home yesterday.  As of now, police do not know the circumstances or cause of death. More after the jump.

After his NFL career, he had a successful acting career. Smith is probably best known for his role in the Police Academy films. He also guest-starred in a bunch of T-V shows including Charlie’s Angels, B.J. and the Bear, White Shadow, Eight is Enough and Married with Children.

Smith's NFL career included five seasons with the Baltimore Colts and two each with the Oakland Raiders and Houston Oilers.
