Apple App Store Turns 5 Years Old Wednesday

How did we ever get along without being able to utter the words, "just download the app?" The Apple App Store is now 5 years old.

From my perspective, it seems as if it's been around for much longer. As a private pilot the iPhone and iPad have made paper charts obsolete and ushered in countless flight planning apps.

When I tell non-pilots that I fly with an iPad, they always ask for confirmation, yep, a regular iPad. 

Whether you use apps for work or play, you have to admit it’s been a pretty cool game changer -- even with Angry Birds, I guess.
