Texas Woman Opens Her Heart to Homeless Man Standing on a Corner for Three Years, Friendship Occurs

There’s so much turmoil in this world, I always breathe a sigh of relief when stories like this pop up. FOX 4 News reported earlier this week of a kind-hearted Texas woman who saw the plight of a homeless man day in and day out for three years. Finally, she decided to do something about it.

The homeless man never seemed to panhandle or ask a passerby for food or money. According to Ginger Sprouse from the Houston area, “He was just… there.” She finally stopped and asked him about his story, reported FOX 4.

Sprouse, a mom and owner of Art of the Meal according to CBS News, saw the man on the corner – Victor Hubbard – up to four times per day. Hubbard was more than candid with history and shared his story. You can find his story on the Facebook page “This is Victor“.

Hubbard explained to Sprouse that his mother left him and he’s been battling mental illness without a place to live. The page was created in December and has been garnering more and more volunteers to help – almost 9,000 followers on the page. On top of the moral support, she help set up a Go Fund Me account that now has over $28,000 in support of helping Hubbard. The latest donation came in about 16 minutes prior to this writing.

Human beings are amazing when we want to be. All it takes is taking off your blinders and opening yourself up to that compassion we all harbor deep inside.

He recently took a job at Sprouse’s business and according to her and multiple news sources, he can’t help but have a big smile donned across his face.

Hubbard to KHOU:

"She came around and she kind of saved me. She helped me. It’s like grace."

To continue this wave of faith and good feelings, all of the publicity from his story reconnected him with his uncle from East Texas. And then last week, he reunited with his mother, reports CBS.

So when you’re feeling down and are in a place where you can help a fellow human being, remember this story. There are happy endings – you just have to work for it.
