Whataburger founder Harm-n Dobson opened Whataburger #1 back in August of 1950. It was just a tiny burger stand offering something that folks had never seen; a burger that was so big that you had to hold it with both hands!
Restaurant chains have been packaging their brands and putting their products on grocery store shelves for quite some time and now Whataburger is joining major brands like Taco Bell and T.G.I. Fridays.
We were talking just the other day in the lunch room here at the radio station about how much food prices have gone up lately. There was a time not too long ago when you could spend $5 on lunch. Now you're lucky to get out for much less than $10. Any decent combo meal at McDonald's or Whataburger is going to run you at least $7 after tax. I have made a list of some of my favorite places to eat that are a little easier on the wallet. The list after the jump.
