U2 Plans Deluxe Reissues of ‘Achtung Baby’ and ‘Zooropa’

Believe it or not, it’s been 20 years since U2 released its landmark album ‘Achtung Baby’ — and the band is preparing to celebrate with a newly expanded version.

The band isn’t stopping its vault-purging there, either – Rolling Stone reports that there are also plans for a deluxe edition of U2′s ‘Achtung’ follow-up, ‘Zooropa,’ all part of a wider campaign that will see the songs repackaged in a number of formats.

Forbes Lists The Richest Rockers [VIDEO]

Forbes magazine just released their list of the highest-paid musicians and of course there are some rockers at the top.  It's no suprise that U2 come in at number one after earning 195-million dollars, followed by Bon Jovi with 125 mil and Elton John with 100-million.  Paul McCartney is still earning money at the number five spot with 67 mil and the Eagles are in eighth with 60-million dollars.  Other rockers on the list include AC/DC at 18  and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers at. U2 Push New Album Back To 2012

The new U2 album was scheduled to be released in May, but reports are now coming out that it will be pushed back to late 2012.  Adam Clayton, bass player for the group, told Rolling Stone that “We had to have a meeting and look at the schedule to see if we could pick up any extra time to work on it. We just realized we couldn’t. To be honest, everyone was a bit gutted. But it was the only sensible decision.” See the video for Vertigo after the jump.

Favorite Album of the 90′s [VIDEO]

Gibson.com has just compiled a list of the best albums of the ‘90s and topping it is none other than Nirvana’s Nevermind. The site’s editors, writers and readers all voted and the 1991 record topped the list, followed by Radiohead’s OK Computer, U2’s Achtung Baby, Definitely Maybe by Oasis and R.E.M.’s Automatic for the People. Rounding out the top ten are Pearl Jam’s Ten, Metallica’s Metallica, Time out of Mind by Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley’s Grace and Radiohead’s The Bends. More after the jump.

Rolling Stone ‘Best Albums of the 80′s’ [VIDEO]

So Rolling Stone recently polled their readers and asked them what they thought was the best album of the ‘80s. U2’s The Joshua Tree scored the most votes, edging out Guns N’ Roses’ Appetite for Destruction and Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA came in fourth, AC/DC’s Back in Black took the number six spot and Metallica’s Master of Puppets wound up in tenth. See the whole list at RollingStone.com.

The major record companies have joined forces to create a new digital-only compilation CD to benefit the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
