Retailers Starting Black Friday on Thanksgiving Day: Good or Bad [POLL]

The day after Thanksgiving, aka Black Friday, is the biggest shopping day of the year. Stores put out their lowest prices and best deals of the year and millions of people everywhere sit out until midnight just to get these deals. Well, this year retailers are starting Black Friday early this year, and a lot of people aren’t too sure about it.

The thought of stores starting their Black Friday hours even earlier is getting mixed reviews. Some people are excited that they don’t have to be up in the wee hours of the morning to get the best deals. However, a lot of people aren’t happy because Thanksgiving is a holiday to spend with friends and family, and that the retailers opening on Thanksgiving aren’t taking that into thought. Employees of these companies have started an online petition to stop the stores from forcing them to work on a holiday. Here’s a look at some retail store’s Thanksgiving hours:

Target. The discounter said Monday that doors will open earlier than ever at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Walmart. Walmart announced that its Black Friday will start on Thursday at 8 p.m.

Sears. Consumers can start shopping at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving and keep on going until 10 p.m. the next day

Kmart. The discounter will be open from 6 a.m to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving, with a break for dinner until 8 p.m. after which stores are open until 3 a.m. Stores re-open two hours later on Friday morning, and stay open until 11 p.m.

Staples. The office supplier will give shoppers until 5 a.m. to eat their desserts and rest before they shopping.

PetSmart. And pets won’t be left out of the holiday excitement, either. Shop for your furry friends at PetSmart starting at 7 a.m on Friday.

JCPenney. JCPenney has announced that they plan to open their doors at 6 a.m. on Friday.
