After the death of the 14-year-old last week that is being blamed on Monster Energey Drinks, the question now stands: How much caffeine will kill you?The question is now being answered, but the doctors say a hell of a lot. Jack James (Center for Caffeine Research) says an overdose for adults requires roughly 10 grams of caffeine. The average person ingests1 to 2 milligrams of caffeine per coffee beverage.

An article on two fatal caffeine overdoses in New Mexico says the figure is closer to about five grams -- an amount that would still require drinking more than 6 gallons of coffee.
