In 1986, the Don't Mess with Texas campaign began to ask us to not dirty up our great state with our trash. The Adopt a Highway program was born out of the campaign and, a fun fact for you, the first ever Adopt a Highway is a two mile stretch of Highway 69 South going into Tyler.

There are also numerous ways that students can get involved and even earn scholarships.

With all the campaign does, there has been some creative advertising including billboard, newspaper and radio ads. There also has been an abundance of TV ads that have included our favorite native Texans or who have made Texas their home.

We scoured the internet and found some of our favorites.
