The National Weather Service says locally heavy rainfall is expected over much of the state today and tonight with widespread rain resulting in one to near three inches of rainfall. An isolated thunderstorm is also possible.

Our weather partners at KLTV Channel 7 in Tyler say the rainfall will stay throughout the day, and to expect lower temperatures later in the week.

From KLTV:

Showers and thunderstorms are likely throughout the day. Temperatures will range from the upper 40s along the I-30 corridor to the middle 60s in our southern counties. Wide spread 1 to 2 inches of rainfall are likely across East Texas with a few local spots receiving up to 3 inches. There will be a few thunderstorms today and tonight as well. Although we are not expecting much in the way of severe weather, areas south of a line from Center to Lufkin to Crockett could see a strong storm or two. The showers and storms will continue tonight into our day Tuesday.

Drier air will move into the area on Wednesday allowing for a partly cloudy sky and slightly warmer temperatures.  Highs will be in the lower to middle 60s. Late Wednesday a stronger cold front will move through. This front appears to move through the area dry but will make the end of our work week much colder with morning lows down into the 20s by Friday.

Stay dry and be safe out there!
