East Texas Student Dies from Football Injury
Funeral services are pending for a Hawkins High School student who died Thursday after sustaining a head injury earlier this week while playing flag football at the school.
Jacob Gatlin, a 15-year-old freshman at Hawkins High School, died at Children’s Medical Center Hospital in Dallas Thursday morning. The Dallas Medical examiner says Jacob suffered a fractured skull and subdural hematoma.
Hawkins Superintendent Dan Rose said counselors are available at the school today, and students are in the process of making a memory book for the family.
