Legendary metal pioneers Black Sabbath have placed a cryptic mystery message on their official website. Posted on the official Black Sabbath website, the simple message showcases the classic purple Black Sabbath logo with “11-11-11″ beneath it. The message has created a unique buzz throughout the metal community – anxiously awaiting for next week’s Sabbath announcement.

The date of 11/11/11 occurs only once every century, so the day warrants an important message that may only be announced once in a century. At 11:11AM PT on Nov. 11, 2011, the four founders of Black Sabbath – Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward will hold a press conference at a private event held at Hollywood’s Whisky A Go Go.

Rumors of a Black Sabbath reunion have been circulating since August when the Birmingham Mail announced that the original lineup of Black Sabbath would reunite to create a new album — news that the Birmingham Mail called, “THE most closely guarded sector in rock music.” The Mail also quoted guitarist Tony Iommi as saying, “It’s all been very hush-hush. Ozzy’s been the worst at trying to hold it back. He’s doing a lot of TV and he’s being asked stuff about a reunion and he’s going ‘well I never say never.’”

Iommi quickly shot down the report as false, stating that he was misquoted during a conversation with a Birmingham journalist. Despite Iommi’s denial, metal fans kept their hopes up for the rumored reunion. Frontman Ozzy Osbourne later stated that a Sabbath reunion was a “very, very strong possibility,” and that it was in its “early stages.” Iommi recently corroborated Ozzy’s statement, claiming that there may be a full Black Sabbath reunion tour.

Keep your eyes and ears open on November 11, because the dream news every metalhead wants to hear may become a reality.
