Jen Austin

Hi! I grew up in a one-stoplight town in rural Nebraska and my whole family still lives there. The town really does have one stoplight, along with three churches, a bar, and a courthouse. I love going back to visit family, but I always look forward to getting back to Texas barbecue, fajitas, and taller buildings! I've lived in Texas for 18 years now, in Austin, Dallas, and here. I've worked in radio from the moment I graduated from college at the University of Nebraska, and I just love getting to talk to cool people like you every day! And I love seeing how you interact on Facebook too. I love feeling plugged in. Other things I love include sports, great restaurants, self improvement, and meeting new people. I love all movies starring Sandra Bullock or Julia Roberts, and all TV shows with Hoda Kotb or Blake Shelton in them. You'll probably hear me talk about my three daughters on the air, who are in kindergarten and preschool now. The oldest and youngest are separated by only four years. So busy working moms, I can relate!

Today is Michael Richards’ Birthday — Celebrate With These Seinfeld Classics

Kramer cracks me up with his views on marriage.  Is it really a "man-made" prison and married couples are doing time?  Oh, and do you remember the classic episode where Kramer bought those skinny jeans and his whole world turned upside down?  Tight pants are the worst!

What If We Had A 3-Day Work Week?

This story may not have quite the impact if it was coming from a video-game-playing dude in his twenties who spent most of his time on the couch eating chips.

But it's coming from a guy with big ambitions who heads a multi-billion dollar company, and is the second-richest person in the world behind Bill Gates.

Carlos Slim is saying we should only be working three days out of the week.  Great!  Now what's the catch?

Stress Can Make You Gain 11 Pounds Per Year

Something tells me us gals worry more about stress-eating than you fellas do.  If we get fat, we have something to blame it on!

Since stress-eating usually involves comfort foods like pizza, cheeseburgers, and chocolate cake, that packs on about a pound a month and eleven pounds per year those experts say.

I was a fat kid and part of my stress now involves worrying about being fat again, so this bit of news makes me feel like the problem is compounded.  Stress makes me want to starve and eat at the same time!

It's not just the foods themselves that cause the weight gain.  There could be something else going on with stress that makes us add the LB's.

Lone Ranger Outfit Brings In Big Bucks at Texas Auction

Personally, I can't imagine spending six figures on some pieces of clothing when the same chunk of change could buy five cars or SUVs.  But good for one Texas family who auctioned off some TV memorabilia over the weekend.  They made big bucks!

The family of a late businessman and collector decided to put the original Lone Ranger outfit on the auction block, and it brought in $195,000 at the auction in Waco Saturday.

I Think I Have Tech-Elbow

Does anyone else's elbow hurt?

Mine started hurting a few weeks ago and I passed it off as a freak injury that probably happened when I was picking up the 2-year old to give her a smooch and she wiggled free and twisted my funny bone.  But it won't go away and it's getting worse and I made a huge mistake in Googling my symptoms.

Just say no to medical Googling!  It's always a can of worms better left sealed up because it always comes back with horrible possibilities and then tells us to go to the doctor.  Maybe we should start with the doctor.  But I'm pretty sure he will tell me I have 90-degree-computer-and-smart-phone elbow.  You too?
