Texas is almost dead last in the nation for kids' health and safety, and we're in the bottom half overall on Wallethub's list of the Best & Worst States to Raise a Family. What are we doing wrong?

School is getting ready to start up again, and students are getting excited about new friends, new teachers, new backpacks, and a brand new start. And there's this not-so-happy news that Texas ranks among the lowest in the US for SAT scores, so we gotta buckle down. There is one bright spot though.

We're not the best, but considering there are more than three thousand cities in Texas and 28 million people, being a Top 100 city might be alright.

If you have a really fun weekend planned, that might mean you're headed to Louisiana. One site says Texas is just a mediocre place for fun, but Louisiana is a Top 5 spot for amusement. Really?  Ok, why?! These "fun" rankings are based on several things, and it's a whole lot more than just your co-workers telling silly jokes all day...

If you've never wanted to kick the habit before, the idea that you could have a million dollars leftover might be just what you need. Holy....um, smokes.

Texas has several spots in the Top 50 when it comes to the best cities to visit on New Year's Eve.  Another win for us as a whole. What's your favorite night spot to ring in the New Year in East Texas?
