School is supposed to be one of the safest places on the planet for our kids. Somewhere they go to learn, have adults who care about their well-being, and just in general learn about life. Sadly, it seems in Texas that school is becoming an unsafe place to be.

Now, that's not to single out Texas schools, because this is happening all over the country. However, I feel like I've heard more and more of this happening here, and honestly it frightens me to no end.

Inappropriate relationships are one of the things we see a lot of. Teachers having either physical or mental relationships with students that turn sexual in nature seems to be a popular one these days.

Then there are the teachers who have those hidden things, hidden desires. That's what we have in Morton, TX., a small town approximately an hour west of Lubbock. Corey Westbrook, 69, a certified educator since 1981, was arrested.

Westbrook was accused of possessing material that depicted child sexual abuse and he pleaded guilty to a federal charge for those crimes.

During the investigation, police seized 83 different electronic devices, and found material on 11 of them. The material they found was absolutely disturbing, and knowing this man was an educator makes it even worse. He was around kids all the time.

Some of the stuff found, but not limited to, included children as young as seven years old engaged in sexual activity with adult men, and even depictions of sexual abuse on infants and toddlers.

Westbrook told investigators he had been viewing the material since 1995 and that he found his material on the dark web, which is where most all of this kind of stuff is found.

He plead guilty to Possession of Child Pornography Involving a Prepubescent Minor. If the plea is accepted, it carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in jail and he will be required to register as a sex offender.

State charges are also still pending, so this won't be the only one he has to worry about.
