Halfway To Rude: Texas Tanks In Most Polite States Survey
What is even happening out there Texas?
Is It Regional?
My truck driving father-in-law had this to say about people from the north and east, "They wake up every day and act like they stubbed their toe". It's a weird analogy, but somehow it works. Let's also say as far as the region goes, he's not that far off base, but there are rude states all around the U.S.
How We Did
As far as Texas goes, I really kind of expected us to be somewhere in the top twenty when it game to politeness, but we had no such luck. Texas tied with New Mexico at #24. So why are we not one of the nicest states anymore?
The Survey
The Preply survey had asked questions like how many times and/or when you say "please" and "thank you" as well as when you do simple polite things like holding open a door. I would have like a little bit more in depth description of their methodology, but it certainly seems like enough to make us wonder if we can do more. I would also like to know why only 40 states are listed, because I really want to bash on those really rude ones.
Good News
The good news is that Texans at least have a realistic view of their politeness or lack thereof. Texans also ranked #24 as far as how polite they thought they were. I'm hoping by reading this that we can all make it our mission to be a little bit more polite. When you put those kind of good thoughts and actions out into the world they always come back to you.
