(KNUE-FM) The Smith County advocacy center is set to host its first-ever ‘Battle of the Badges’ softball tournament, and it’s all for a great cause. You’re invited to bring your friends and family to cheer on and support the event as it is Child Abuse Awareness Month.

The event is set to take place on Saturday, April 25 with Smith County first responders set to take the field. And this event can be something quick that you stop by to show support or you can spend your whole day taking in the fun.

When and Where the Tyler Softball Tournament Will Happen

Festivities will begin at 10:30 a.m. with some tailgating, next will be the Home Run Derby contest which will get started around 12:30 p.m. and first pitch of the softball tournament will be at 2:00 p.m. All of this will take place will take place at Faulkner Park in Tyler. The festivities will be wrapping up around 5:00 p.m.

Family Activities, Food Trucks and Artwork at the Event

To help the efforts even more, Moss Floral will be selling artwork created by children to help support child abuse survivors. There will also be food trucks, raffle items, and activities for kids at the event.

How East Texans Can Support Child Abuse Awareness Month

Even if you’re not able to attend the event you can still show support for Child Abuse Awareness Month. It’s really simple: The Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County is asking everyone to wear blue on Friday in support.

It should be a wonderful event for a great cause. If you have time on Saturday, April 25, bring the family and come have some fun at Faulkner Park.
