The 2025 crawfish season is in full swing and people are lining up all over to get their hands on some of those tasty crustaceans. In Louisiana, home of the crawfish farms, the season started back in late November of 2024.

Prices were pretty high in Louisiana for crawfish when they first came out as they always are at the beginning of the season. Prices were around the $8.99 a pound range in the Bayou state but have come down a couple of dollars a pound since the start of the 2004-2025 season. The average price in Louisiana currently is around $6.99 a pound and as low as $5.99 a pound if you get 10 or more pounds to go.

Now as far as Texas is concerned, you won't see those bargain basement prices for sure. In past years, Texas residents would pay $8 to 9 dollars a pound for crawfish which is what Louisiana folks were paying at the beginning of the season.

But in 2025, Texas residents aren't seeing those kinds of prices right now. We did a quick search and saw that the average price for hot-boiled crawfish in restaurants is $9.99 to $12.99 a pound. If you want to boil them yourself, you will pay upwards of $7 to 9 dollars a pound for a sack of crawfish.

That would make any Louisiana person pass out if they saw that. So if you are in the state of Texas and get the wants for some hot-boiled crawfish, then be ready to pony up some big bucks to satisfy your appetite.
