Katherine Waterston Likens ‘Alien: Covenant’ to a ‘Voyage Into the Unknown’
Have you heard? Alien: Covenant is coming out soon. There’s a trailer. You should watch it. Katherine Waterston is the latest actor to take on the rich world of the Alien movies, and her new character is the latest female protagonist to take on the xenomorphs (or Neomorphs, as we’ve heard whispers of a new breed of alien stalking the galaxy). her character is a science officer aboard the ship Covenant, and Waterston describes her journey as a venture “into the unknown.”
Gareth Edwards Says There Is a 4K Restoration of the Original ‘Star Wars’ Out There Somewhere
In this new age of ultra-hi-def-liquid-frame-3D-VR-cystal-lava-screen-immersion TVs that you and I can have in our own home theaters, the old classics just don’t look as good anymore. Movies that seemed like the height of technology back when televisions were still cube-shaped look jerky and unfocused now that we’re so used to seeing the highest-definition image possible, so 4K restorations are now on the rise. Gareth Edwards, director of Rogue One, says that Lucasfilm is in possession of a 4K version of the original Star Wars, but has no idea when the rest of us will get to see it.
‘Alien: Covenant’ Will Feature at Least One Dimly Lit Hallway, Plus Another Mysterious Code
We don’t have a trailer for Alien: Covenant yet (she wrote, wth a frustrated sigh) but we’ve been getting plenty of images from the folks at Fox that seem to be teasing a trailer release. The latest one, released through the “Alien Anthology” Twitter account, features one of those fun dark hallways that xenomorphs love to lurk in while they’re hunting their human prey.
You Have to Watch This Trailer for ‘The Mummy’ Without Sound Effects (and With Lots of Tom Cruise Screaming)
Have you seen The Mummy trailer yet? Looks pretty cool, right? Tom Cruise seemingly comes back from the dead after a plane crash and has to stop an evil mummy princess from burying the world’s iconic landmarks in sand. We even mashed the trailer up with Mission: Impossible and created the Ultimate Tom Cruise Movie Crossover. But the only thing better than a movie trailer is a fabulously glitchy movie trailer, and Universal unwittingly gifted us with one last night, in the form of The Mummy, feat. Tom Cruise Screaming.
Gareth Edwards Confirms ‘Rogue One’ Completely Scrapped the Script’s Original Ending
If you’ve seen Rogue One by now, you’ve probably noticed a lot of the moments we all saw in the trailers didn’t actually make the final cut of the movie. We even published a whole run-down of all the lines and shots that are nowhere to be found in the finished product. Apparently the movie went through a lot more edits than just reshoots though, because according to director Gareth Edwards, the original script had a vastly different ending from what the movie ended up with. This article focuses on the end of the movie, so if you haven’t seen it yet, SPOILERS abound.)
Taika Waititi Confirms ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Will Travel to Planet Hulk
Because Thor: Ragnarok is a gift for all of us who wondered what the two M.I.A. Avengers had been up to during the events of Captain America: Civil War, it’ll be combining two very exciting comic arcs from Thor and the Hulk. Rumors of Planet Hulk have abounded for most of this year, and Marvel seemed to confirm that parts of that storyline would make it into the new Thor movie when they revealed Hulk’s gladiator armor back in July. Now, the director himself confirmed that not only would Thor: Ragnarok reference Planet Hulk, they’ll actually be going there during the movie.

There’s a whole new world out there, hidden beneath the underbelly of the Internet, where gamers compete in virtual tournaments and make millions of dollars through individual sponsorships. Will Ferrell is delving into this world for a new comedy from Legendary, in which he will play a middle-aged gamer on a team full of teens trying to make some big bucks in the arena of eSports.
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Trailer Is Here, and Baby Groot Steals the Show, Obviously
We’ve done our waiting, and now it’s finally here — feast your eyes on the first official Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer! All of our favorites are back, plus a few new faces and one very big tentacle monster. This trailer keeps the rock music vibe of the first movie alive with their choice of Sweet’s “Fox on the Run,” and it looks just as fun, if not even more fun, than its predecessor.
Spidey Goes to Washington and Gets an Upgrade From Tony Stark in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’
We haven’t heard too much about Spider-Man: Homecoming apart from endless speculation about Zendaya’s character and tons of videos of Tom Holland’s parkour skills, but we know that Tony Stark will definitely make an appearance. He took Peter Parker under his wing in Captain America: Civil War, so he’s probably going to keep showing up in Peter’s life to see how his new protege is doing. And what’s a friendship with Tony Stark without a few very high-tech gifts? [If you want to go into Homecoming knowing as little as possible, now’s the time to turn back because there be SPOILERS ahead.]

Now, ahead of Rogue One’s premiere, the company has partnered with Verizon to unveil a new “360 experience” entitled Rogue One: Recon. (For best results, watch the above video on your tablet or phone.)
New ‘Doctor Strange’ Featurette May Open Your Mind to Seeing It in IMAX 3D
It seems like whenever a new blockbuster comes out, it’s on the cutting edge of movie technology. Just this month we had the premiere of Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, filmed on 120-frames-per-second cameras, advertised as Ang Lee’s most realistic-looking movie yet. Doctor Strange is also attempting to get into the innovation game, with an IMAX 3D version of the film that, according to the stars, makes it feel like you’re actually there watching skyscrapers kaleidoscoping around you.
Shane Black Is Very Excited About His Scary, Funny ‘Predator’ Movie
While the Predator franchise hasn’t exactly been as fantastic as the Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring debut, excitement is building for Shane Black’s upcoming revival of the series, The Predator. We were pretty disappointed by Benicio Del Toro’s exit earlier this month, but the prospect of Narcos star Boyd Holbrook replacing him was more reassuring. And Black himself is a promising aspect of the project — his Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and this year’s The Nice Guys were both fantastic and funny action movies. He’s very excited to start working on the movie, and already has big plans about the general vibe and how it’ll differ from its predecessors.
