Traveling between Flint and Gresham could become less congested thanks to a widening project that is proposed for Old Jacksonville Highway, or FM 2493. The Tyler Area Metropolitian Planning Organization (Tyler Area MPO) is conducting an open house to update the public on the Transportation Improvement Program on Thursday, July 16.

The Tyler Area MPO will be issuing updates on many different projects, which include the widening of Old Jacksonville Highway between Gresham and Flint, adding ramps along Toll 49 at Highway 110 and the future construction of Toll 49 from Interstate 20 to north of Lindale.

Other projects will be discussed and available for review when residents can provide feedback during the 10-day public comment period.

The Tyler Area MPO is responsible for the transportation planning not only in Tyler, but Hidewaway, Lindale, New Chapel Hill, Bullard, Noonday and Whitehouse.

The open house on Thursday will be held at the Tyler Development Center at 423 W. Ferguson St. in Tyler from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. If you're unable to attend the open house you can review the plan and provide your feedback all online right here.
