What are some of the most odd things that have been banned from schools around the world? You will be surprised by this list. Some of these bans are such simply silly. Makes you wonder how far is too far for a school's rule system.

Think back to your school days. Memories of rectangular pizza, loitering in the halls, recess, and young love come to mind. Though no one really wanted to go to school every day, it wasn't as bad as we made it at times. If you were restricted by some of these weird school rules, it may have been a pretty crazy time.

1. Hand-Holding

Hand holding was banned in Tennessee after it was deemed by the State Senate for being a gateway to sexual activity. Keep in mind that Tennessee is within the top ten list of states with high numbers of teen pregnancy.

This is just insane. Who doesn't remember running around the playground or walking down the halls with your sweet heart's hand in yours? It is such a mild form of affection. The leap from hand holding to intercourse is, hopefully, a larger one than what they are making it. I would understand if the school banned hot and heavy make-out sessions in the hallway, but hand holding is so innocent.

2. Hugging

Yep, it did not stop with the hand holding. Schools in New Zealand, Portland, Florida, New Jersey, and Brooklyn see hugging as inappropriate interactions between students.

I guess with first two weird bans for schools you can't even acknowledge  your boyfriend/girlfriend on campus. Don't pass little love notes, ignore them when they pass your desk in class, and don't even think about blowing them a kiss.

3. Non-Motorized Transportation

What?! So, a mother cannot ride with her son on bicycles to drop him at school? How do they think people got to school in the past? Also, what about the families that live close to the school but cannot afford a car? I would understand if students were riding their bicycles and skateboards around the campus outside of the purpose of just transportation. If a young person were to fall while doing a kick-flip on their skateboard, the school would have to worry about liability. Transportation is different.

4. Best Friends

Concentration and nose to the grind stone work ethics are essential for a successful school career. But, you will need friends along the way. The UK school that banned best friends does not agree with that. It seems they are more worried with the focus being completely on the school work. They have no time for the drama on young people's "fall-outs." If you can't play nice and stay best friends forever without the risk of someone's feelings getting hurt, than no one can be friends.

5. Christmas

It must be a very sad and boring December for these schools. Who doesn't love Christmas for some of its best treats? Cookies, gifts, the magic of Santa, singing Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, and so much else are part of what makes the Season.   This ban is one I just cannot get on board for.

Well, there you have it. These are just five of the most odd, craziest, and plain silliest things banned from school. Other bans that you should read about are things like; black make-up, milk, competitive games, and skinny jeans. Where is the line? What is too much?
