Since the death of Levon Helm on Thursday, rock musicians everywhere have been paying tribute to the late drummer of the Band. Coachella headliners the Black Keys did their part over the weekend, enlisting John Fogerty for a cover of the Band’s ‘The Weight.’

Fogerty played acoustic guitar and sang the first verse, while the Keys’ Dan Auerbach played electric and alternated verses with Fogerty, with plenty of vocal help from the crowd. Auerbach introduced the cover by calling Helm “amazing and inspiring.”

‘The Weight’ was one of the Band’s most well-known songs and one of the few on the legendary ‘Music From Big Pink’ record on which Helm sang lead. Helm, a two-time Grammy winner for Best Americana Album, passed away at age 71 of cancer.

Other artists paid tribute to Helm in recent days. Bon Iver performed the Band song ‘Ophelia’ during a show in San Francisco. A number of indie acts, including the War on Drugs, Passion Pit and the National, expressed their condolences via Twitter.
