The Revolver Golden Gods Awards take place April 11 in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theater in conjunction with ‘Golden Gods: The History of Heavy Metal,’ which is a metal exhibit at the adjacent Grammy Museum. The display serves to educate visitors about the genre we all know and love by collecting various items relating to the metal acts. Hellyeah and Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul chatted with Revolver TV about the upcoming metallic festivities, as well as Hellyeah’s new album ‘Band of Brothers,’ due this June.

“The Golden Gods is good reason to get together and party,” Paul said. “It’s our version of what’s been going on for years with the Grammys, stuff like that. It’s about time we had it.”

The skinsman is also stoked about the metal installation at the Grammy museum, saying, “There’s a lot of history in that metal.” He would know, since Pantera have been such a crucial part of the genre’s proliferation. That’s why he is donating some “beautiful Dimebag memorabilia” and “Pantera stuff,” in honor of his brother, the late, great guitarist Dimebag Darrell.

Paul admitted that he is still looking to donate some items from the Rebel Meets Rebel project that he and Dime embarked upon with outlaw country musician David Allan Coe.

The drummer spoke about how ‘Band of Brothers’ marks a return to their metal roots, which is something he told Loudwire exclusively.

When the interviewer tells him he is the best-smelling man in metal, Paul likened his desire to be fresh and clean to a burger joint. “I’ve never been a fan of Waterburger,” he said. “It’s a hamburger place in Texas that just smells like onions. Sometimes people don’t give a s—. I like to take a shower, put a little cologne on. When I’m done sweating, I’m done sweating.”
