An EF-3 tornado ripped apart about 30 percent of the small East Texas town of Van on Mother's Day evening. An aerial view from KLTV Channel 7 shows the almost 15-mile path of destruction that was done to homes, businesses and schools.

Although the town has been torn apart, the generosity of East Texans is overwhelming and the spirit is there among the resident to rebuild. Donations of all kinds, including water, clothing, non-perishable food, toiletries and baby items have been pouring in from all over the area and state to help displaced residents.

Donations are still being accepted and monetary donations are being requested by the American Red Cross on behalf of the residents.

City and county officials are asking the public to remain where they are and not to venture to Van to view the damage because there are dangerous conditions within the area that hasn't been cleaned up yet.

Power companies are working as quickly as they can to restore power to the affected areas.

East Texans are also praying for those that have been affected by this tornado and residents are anxious to clean up as more rain and potential severe weather is in the forecast for all of East Texas.
