Investigators with a division of the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have reached a prelimary theory to the cause of the downtown Gladewater fire according to KLTV.

There was "human action" involved in the start of the fire.

"All of the scene information has been gathered and analysis of the information will continue," said Dallas Field Division’s Assistant Special Agent in Charge Vincent Pallozzi. "While we have found that the fire was caused by human action, it is undetermined at this time if the fire was accidental or intentional."

The scene has been turned over to the Gregg County Fire Marshall's Office.

If you have any information related to the fire, contact the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, 903-236-8400, or Gregg County Crime Stoppers, 903-236-7867.

Around 10:30 P.M. Wednesday night (January 4), Gladewater, Longview, Sabine, Clarksville City and Warren City fire departments assisted in extinguishing a fire in downtown Gladewater.

According to KLTV, the fire started in a vacant building and spread to a second building, destroying both and damaged a third building.

Gladewater Police Chief Robert Vine told KLTV, "From my understanding it was empty and they were actually cleaning it out today."

No injuries have been reported.

Crews did put out the fire but some areas of the highway could be closed as the investigation continues. Use caution or find and alternate route through the area.
