Toto will celebrate their 40th anniversary with an extensive tour — and a new compilation featuring new music alongside remastered hits that promises to be just the first of several upcoming releases.

The anniversary dates, called the 40 Trips Around the Sun Tour, are scheduled to begin next February in Europe, where the band has already booked through April. That leg, however, is only the start of a worldwide tour that's being described as "the band’s most extensive run in years," more of which will be "announced shortly." Toto have also partnered with Sony for what appears to be an ambitious catalog project set to launch with the release of a new best-of set.

Toto's current lineup — rounded out by co-founders Steve Lukather, David Paich and Steve Porcaro alongside singer Joseph Williams — returned to the studio this year to work on new material for that compilation, which will rest on hits and fan favorites remastered by Elliot Scheiner and Gavin Lurssen. Although the press release only alludes to "many other projects" to come from Toto's new Sony pact, Lukather has already said the band has remastered its entire Sony catalog for the anniversary — and enthused that it was "like a blanket was taken off the speakers" for the group's first three LPs in particular.

"Myself, David, Steve and Joseph are humbled and thrilled at the long lasting success of the band," adds Lukather in the 40 Trips Around the Sun press release. "This 40th anniversary tour is going to be a special one for us and all of the fans that come out. On top of all that, it’s really exciting to be working with Sony Music again. We’ve spent a lot of time this year working on new music and re-mastering the older tracks."

In the meantime, Toto remain on the road for their 2017 summer tour. Check out those dates, and look over the first leg of the 40 Trips Around the Sun tour below.
