Our Top 20 Favorite Arcade Games from Childhood — What Was Your Favorite?

Sam Howzit, Flickr

It is a sad fact that we are slowing losing all of our arcades here in Tyler. I have great memories from the arcades of my childhood. I had a few favorites, but I loved playing all of the games. So in memory of our lost arcades, I have put together a list of the top 20 arcade games from our childhood. Plus, the Townsquare Media DJs listed there top 3 favorites. Lets take a trip down memory lane. Hours and hours, countless quarters, and gallons of Icee later we are all grown up and out of the arcade. The years of time spent working the pinball machine have almost left us completely. I don’t know anyone that didn’t spend plenty of afternoons after school in an arcade of some sort. Unfortunately, Tyler is slowly losing all of its arcades. The mall doesn’t even have one any more. What kind of world are we living in that the mall doesn’t have an arcade?

Instead of worrying about a disappearing piece of our youth, lets remember the games that we couldn’t get enough of. Here is a list of the top 20 arcade games of the past.

1. Punch Out!!
2. Spy Hunter
3. Paper Boy
4. Pole Position Raceway
5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
6.  Street Fighter
7. Mario Brothers
8. Dance, Dance Revolution
