Tony Romo Out for Rest of the Season
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will miss the rest of the NFL season due to a back injury, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting.
The news will be a huge blow to the Cowboys, who got a last-minute win on a drive engineered by Romo against Washington on Sunday to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Romo said Sunday after the game he would undergo an MRI on Monday, but at the time he didn’t think his season would be in trouble. He said a first-half hit gave his back troubles.
That apparently changed Monday, and now the Cowboys will be looking to Kyle Orton to beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Cowboys have to win to win the NFC East and capture a playoff spot.
Romo, who threw the game-winning touchdown to DeMarco Murray with 1:08 left to play on Sunday, had surgery earlier this year to remove a cyst from his back and did not play again until July.
