Tom Hanks is America's sweetheart and by all accounts one of the nicest men on the planet. He would never curse! So imagine the surprise at 'Good Morning America' when Hanks stopped by and delivered an F-bomb at 8:25am. Good morning, America!

Hanks was on 'Good Morning America' to promote his upcoming movie 'Cloud Atlas' and in that movie he plays (amongst other characters), a British thug. When asked about his character's accent, Hanks then (still sporting a mustache he's wearing as he plays Walt Disney in a movie) slipped into character and served up some foul language to go along with your coffee. (The interview was also being broadcast on the big 'GMA' screen in the middle of Times Square.)

For his part, Hanks seemed shocked and incredibly apologetic. 'GMA' anchor Elizabeth Vargas also apologized profusely to viewers before Hanks noted that the next time he's on 'Good Morning America' there will be a 7-second delay.

'Good Morning America' released a statement saying:

This morning Tom Hanks accidently [sic] used an expletive during a live interview on 'GMA' with Elizabeth Vargas. They both immediately apologized on air, and the show was corrected for the all subsequent feeds.

The video of the incident is below but, obviously, features Tom Hanks cursing. 'Cloud Atlas' opens in theaters on October 26th.
