Yahoo! Sports has a disheartening story that they posted yesterday (11/13) about the state of Pennsylvania that has encouraged high school hockey teams to skip the national anthem in pre-game ceremonies to save money on ice rental time!

Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League Commissioner, Ed Sam, told a local Pittsburgh television station (KDKA) that it has nothing to do with not being patriotic.

The national anthem should not be played only because of time constrains. Ice is very, very hard to get and it's not cheap. We're talking $300 an hour sometimes or even higher than that.

The hockey league has promised to hold another meeting to discuss the ruling.

How do you think this would go over in Texas? It wouldn't! They have already taken prayer out and now our national anthem! What a disgrace! How about making timeouts or the time between periods shorter to make up for the minute and a half it takes to honor America!
