The week is almost over, and it time to start planning your weekend. And just like every week we did the work for you so you don’t have to search high and low for things to do. This weekend officially marks the first weekend of fall, so why not go out and have a good time to celebrate and say goodbye to this scorching summer?

The 96th Annual East Texas State Fair is an event that is a fun event for the whole family, with games and attractions for all ages. You can go any day or any time this weekend and still have a great time. The fair is full of different rides and exhibits, with tons of different food and entertainment choices. It is still football season and as you East Texans know the typical Friday night entertainment can be found at a local high school football game. 6 weeks into the season, if you have yet to go to a football game, now is the time. The teams are starting to flourish and the games seem to be getting even better and better. Here is a list of all of the games and times this weekend.

And if you’re a fan of Texas music then you have to have heard of the Honky Tonk Kid, Aaron Watson. Well, Mr. Watson will be performing this Friday night at Electric Cowboy in Tyler, but not before stopping by the KNUE front porch to perform a private show. The show will start about 10 p.m. so you have time to go to a football game before the show! Perfect timing!

Saturday afternoon the Bullard High School Key Club is hosting a “Day of Play” from 11a-2p. This is to go along with “Nickelodeon Unplugged”. Nickelodeon will be going off air from 11a-2p to encourage kids to get outside and play! This “Day of Play” will take place at OL Ferrell Park in Bullard and there are going to be all kinds of fun, games, activities and door prizes. Bring your family, a picnic lunch and have some fun together.

Saturday night, head on out to Villa di Felicita to support our local troops at Country For Our Country. This is a local event created specifically to help out our local East Texas soldiers. The lineup consists of Chase and the New South, Derek Sholl, and the headliner for this year is the incredibly talented Sara Evans. So as you can see, there is plenty to do this weekend to keep you busy. You can take your kids to the “Day of Play” and get them all worn out for the babysitter when you and your significant other have a date night at Country For Our Country.
