The Real Snakes on a Plane — Why One Flight Had to Make an Emergency Landing

We have all heard about the movie ‘Snakes on a Plane.’ Because it held such ridiculous content, no one believed it could really happen. But, it did. One flight lived out the real horror of an uninvited guest on their trip through the skies.

CNN and KETK reported recently that, “Ninety passengers aboard an Egypt Air flight from Cairo to Kuwait could have used actor Samuel L. Jackson this week after a snake reportedly bit a Jordanian man who smuggled the reptile onboard.”

How terrifying! The Hollywood plot came to life for these passengers.

Though this plane did not have quite the dramatic action of the movie, it is still a situation to be frightened of. The man that smuggled the snake onto this aircraft was trying to control the reptile hidden in his carry on, until it bite him and then slithered through the crowd.

What would you do if you saw a large cobra emerge from under your seat and wiggle in between your feet? Those with a phobia of the animals would surely create a chaotic scene. That is, if they did not just pass out from the terror.

Luckily, nothing too extreme happened for this Egypt flight past an emergency landing. This flight soon took off again after the unpredicted stop with no real harm done. But, the people of this script come to reality are truly fortunate nothing worse happened.

According to wildlife experts, the cobra’s venom is so deadly it can kill a full-grown elephant in three hours or a person in about 15 minutes. The man that received the strike did not die and no other person was bitten. If someone had it would beg the question, would this incident become the sequel to the ‘Snakes on a Plane’ movie?

If I were to leave the Tyler Pounds air field and come face to face with a large snake while miles above ground, I would make my first trip to an airplane bathroom. All insecurities about germs and other unsettling things that fill the tiny room would disappear. All that would matter is the comfort of a sealed space away from nature’s beast.

What would you do if put into Samuel L. Jackson’s position or those of this horrifying flight?
